Community Development Round Table

The Community Development Roundtable is a community leadership team that promotes, guides, monitors, and facilitates the implementation of the Community Development Framework. This table provides overall leadership to ensure that CDF is meeting its goals and is working effectively to meet the needs at the neighbourhood level.

This community leadership team will focus on the Framework to ensure it is functioning and evolving by:

  • convening key stakeholders to facilitate decision making, remove organizational roadblocks and inform policies
  • identifying and prioritizing the neighbourhoods to benefit most from CDF and phasing in other neighbourhoods over time
  • facilitating the collaboration of the stakeholders involved in the Framework
  • mobilizing new and existing resources
  • aligning services and resources to neighbourhood needs
  • providing oversight and leadership for the overall strategy (e.g. monitoring and tracking, evaluation and accountability processes)

The current members are:

  • Steve Kanellakos, Deputy City Manager, City Operations, City of Ottawa (Chair)
  • Leslie McDiarmid, Executive Director, South-East Ottawa Community Health Centre
  • Jacques Legendre, City of Ottawa Councillor/Crime Prevention Ottawa
  • Jo-Anne Poirier, Chief Executive Director Officer, Ottawa Community Housing Corporation
  • Chief Vern White, Ottawa Police Service
  • Barbara McInnes, President & CEO of the Community Foundation of Ottawa
  • Melanie Bania, PhD Candidate in Criminology; Research Associate, Institute for the Prevention of Crime, University of Ottawa
  • Michael Allen, President & CEO, United Way/Centraide
  • Walter Piovesan, Superintendent of Instruction, Ottawa-Carleton District School Board
  • Community member, to be invited
