  1. Minutes - Review of April 23rd  minutes and approval: Minutes of April 23rd approved with the following changes: Item #4 change University of Ottawa to Carleton University Survey Centre
  1. Business arising:
    • Launch: Successful launch occurred May 26 2009. Short video of the event was prepared by Abid and is on the CDF website.
    • Questionnaire dissemination: A total of 45 questionnaires have been completed. Meeting of sub committee to be arranged to discuss other strategies.
    • Data entry: Still need volunteers to do data entry. Follow up by CCHS staff.
    • Newsletter update: Lisa is working on this and hopes to have it completed in the near future
    • Community Table report: The Community Table, led by the Coalition of Community Health and Resource Centres (CHRCs), is the hub that unites the neighbourhoods participating in the CDF in an effort to facilitate the sharing of approaches and good practices across neighbourhoods, as well as to look for opportunities to share and leverage strengths and resources. It assists neighbourhoods in resolving identified issues and action items and will assist neighbourhoods in identifying issues and action items that require system level supports. Membership is co-ordinated by the Coalition of Community Health and Resource Centres and includes Neighbourhood representatives and residents, community developers (CHRCs), and other organizations. First meeting of the Community Table was held on April 15. A sub-group on capacity building and civic engagement is also in place and has met once. Second meeting of the CT is scheduled for July 29th. This table will play a coordination role at the interface between the CHRCs Steering Tables and the system level tables. A representative from each Steering Table is participating at the Table along with reps from other agencies. Its current members are: Leonard Poole (Rep. Over brook-Forbes Steering Table); Suzanne Doerge (CAWI); Abid Jan (CDF Coordinator – CCHRC); Vicky Smallman (Rep. Somerset West CHC Steering Table); Gilles Larochelle (Deputy Chief OPS); Hamdi Mohamed (ED, OCISO); Scott Bradford (ED. Boys and Girls Club); Lisa Petch (City of Ottawa); Clara Freire (City of Ottawa); Leslie McDiarmid (ED, SEOCHC); Steve Clay (Ottawa Community Housing); Sylvie Manser (Rep. SEOCHC Steering Table); Bart Bakker (ED Leadership Ottawa); Beth Gibeault (Rep. Coalition of the Community Houses Coalition); Jane Fjeld (Youth Service Bureau).
    •  Leadership Ottawa: Victor is part of the new group of cohorts and is working with four other people.
    • Terms of Reference: Incorrect terms of reference were brought to the meeting-CCHS will bring correct version to the next meeting
    • Yuk Yuk comedy night: Planned by Ottawa West Kiwanis. All funds raised are to be directed to Carlington CDF. Currently seeking sponsors as this decreases costs-possibility of approaching businesses in the neighborhood discussed. A display will be available the night of the event.
  1. New business:
    • HCI Lepage-Tenant’s Association has begun a twice weekly movie night and is attracting approximately 30 residents from the building and the neighborhood. A very successful neighborhood launch occurred May 23 2009
    • 2009 Non Renewable Funding: the funding proposal that was submitted to the City was not approved. Community Foundation of Ottawa has agreed to provide $20,000 in funding to be used to engage and mobilize the community.
    • HCI Lepage and Budget will be added as standing items
    • Logo: promotional/correspondence etc will have all agencies logos-please email agency logo to Helen by July 8th. City also have a special logo reflecting CDF that will also be added
    • Lisa will email information re “Think Again” conference
    • 1 day training is being offered by the City of Ottawa on Sept 14 and September 15-Lisa will email information
    • Overbrook Forbes is having their launch August 22 2009 at the Overbrook Forbes Community Centre-all are welcome
    • Carlington Community Association held a Remembrance and Renewal parade May 24th. This involved veterans and community partners including W.E Gowling School and was very well attended.
